Here are just a few of the test results- | Trail Jacket Gear ReviewTRAIL JACKET £95 Outer fabric - Concordia
Inner fabric - polyester and mesh lining
Colours black/stone, black/clay, navy/stone, black/buff
Sizes XS-XL
Weight 750g
Made in UK
Vander is one of the few companies to make products in Euroland, never mind the UK! Like all Vander jackets, this one is hard to fault in terms of value for money.
Put it on and you'll notice that it is light in weight as well as light on your bank balance. The hip pockets are quite large, but as they are mesh you might find water gets into them through the garment. There's a dedicated map pocket and an excellent rollaway hood that boasts a wired peak, volume adjuster and tidy drawcords. Another excellent jacket for walkers on a budget. Pros - price; weight; hood Cons - no problems at this price

Inner fabric - Airflow mesh
Colours navy/magenta, spruce/claret, red/black, navy/stone, buff/navy
Sizes 6 - 24
Weight 650g
Made in UK
A classic jacket that uses a fairly rustle free fabric and is low in weight, low in price and made in the UK. Two mesh lined hip pockets take a map and there's a dedicated map pocket situated above the hem of the jacket, which may or may not suit. The hood is a good rollaway design with a wired peak and captured drawcords, while the volume adjuxter at the back should mean that it fits most heads. This is a great jacket for general hill-walking, assuming you like that map pocket. Pros - hood;large hip pockets;soft fabric;weight Cons - the map pocket position may not suit everyone
