Newton Abbot based Vander Clothing UK Ltd have stepped in to provide local schoolgirl and exciting young Alpine skier, with a custom made ski jacket.

Vander Clothing a new addition to the Firewatch Group, was saved from closure at the beginning of February. With over 30 years experience of designing and manufactering waterproof and thermal clothing they are experts in producing such garments.

Group CEO Martin Smith explained the companies involvement with Katie Eden:

'I met Katie when she came with her parents Tim & Anne to a presentation to the Rotary Club of Newton Abbot, who had recently given Katie some support. All the members were extremely impressed with her confident presentation and in particular her determination to suceed in the very difficult pursuit of Alpine Skiing'

Damien went to Swansea university to study Glaciology and since has become well known for his work.

Damien was asked to comment on the jacket features that were particularly useful
“ the hood and the large strap that came around the front was brilliant for those really cold days when everything needed to be covered. With a buff or balaclava and a pair of goggles this did the job nicely and kept the wind out. The fleece lining in the hood was perfect for the long days at the end of the field season when temperatures were more variable. A good hood was better than a good hat as you could cover up without having to fish around for a hat.”
